TangoTab is a site that helps feed the hungry every time a user enjoys a meal at a participating restaurant.
It’s a sad fact that one in six North Americans go to bed hungry every night, and we’ve already seen an initiative that encourages diners to give half their meal portion to the needy. Recently, however, we came across TangoTab, a site that helps feed the hungry every time a user enjoys a meal at a participating restaurant. Users begin by registering with TangoTab, which currently serves Chicago, Dallas, Forth Worth, Hoboken, Los Angeles, New York City, Oklahoma City, Toronto, and Westchester. Once that’s done they can browse the deals on offer from participating restaurants; a free iPhone app is also available for that purpose. Then, when they see a deal they like, they can claim it and enjoy their meal, just as they always would. The only difference is that claiming a meal also results in a donation by TangoTab to partners including the Northern Illinois Food Bank, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, and SoupMobile. The video below explains the premise in more detail: More than 82,400 people have already been fed this year through its effort, Dallas-based TangoTab says. Participating restaurants, meanwhile, have surely benefited from the extra traffic. Social entrepreneurs around the globe: one to team up with or draw inspiration from?
