Unlocking the value of data for African healthcare

A platform helps African healthcare companies improve their efficiency and transparency

Spotted: While there are a number of software-as-a-service (SaaS) products aimed at developing healthcare efficiencies in places like North America and Europe, there are few platforms geared specifically to the needs of African healthcare systems. These systems are often plagued by issues with accessibility and counterfeit medications, among others. Working to change this is Kapsule, a Rwanda-based platform aiming to improve the use of data in African healthcare.

Kapsule works with stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem to both capture data and gain critical insights from this data. The platform helps organisations become more efficient in several areas, including the elimination of supply chain bottlenecks, the development of e-commerce apps for on-demand delivery, and the provision of market intelligence to help close supply-demand gaps.

This aids pharmaceutical manufacturers, healthcare providers, and warehouses improve their processes by tracking key performance indicators and providing granular insights into the progress of health programmes. In addition, the company also collaborates with government bodies to optimise rollout of national health programmes.

Digital platforms are becoming a vital tool in helping the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries combat issues in emerging economies. Springwise has spotted an online marketplace that combats fake pharmaceuticals and a Nigerian platform that makes healthcare accessible and affordable.
