Customers don't need to queue or scan individual items
Spotted: Analysts call AI “the most significant disruptor in retail since the advent of online shopping.” From online chatbots and smart sizing to new IRL shopping experiences, AI is creating many opportunities for retailers to better connect with customers.
For instance, Lithuanian smart retail company Pixevia is helping brands eliminate queues and make the entire shopping experience almost completely seamless. With its smart sensing system, Pixevia makes it possible for retail spaces to be completely autonomous.
Customers tap in with a payment card or app and then proceed to shop as they do normally. Pixevia’s proprietary sensor system – along with a small network of cameras – tracks items as they are picked up or set back down on shelves, identifies the item and its price, and assigns the products to the relevant customer. After reviewing a digital list of the items in their cart, customers tap the same card to leave the store.
From convenience stores and petrol stations to full-service retail spaces, Pixevia’s solution is customisable for any size and purpose. Hardware is attached to standard shelving, and some security camera video footage is available on mobile. The smart shopping experience also includes integration with coffee, cash, and tobacco dispensers, as well as instant, real-time theft alerts. Flexible and robust, Pixevia’s platform also helps warehouse managers track inventory, forecast demand, and manage ordering.
