Launched recently by Barcelona ad agency Honest&Smile, The Love Box is a handmade iPhone accessory that enables the capture of both the phone's back and front camera views in a single, split-screen video recording.
Recently we’ve seen an increase in the number of innovations designed to enhance smartphones’ photographic capabilities. Just last month we featured the SkyLight device that attaches phones and microscopes to facilitate the capture of scientific images, and now there’s a new kind of innovation to report on. Launched recently by Barcelona ad agency Honest&Smile, The Love Box is a handmade iPhone accessory that enables users to take videos using both the phone’s cameras simultaneously. The Love Box consists of a wooden base and an integrated mirroring system. When an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S is mounted in a designated slot on the base, the mirror enables the capture of both the phone’s back and front camera views in a single, split-screen image. For a conversation between two people, for example, both sides can be recorded and presented at once on the phone, side by side. The mirror can also be slid along its track to increase or decrease the size of the split-screen image. Priced at EUR 40.68 on Etsy, the first limited edition run of The Love Box includes a white oak cover and base, the mirroring device, a souvenir poster and an owner’s certificate. Instructions are also available for DIY fans who want to make one themselves. The video below demonstrates the device in action: Is there any photographic challenge the smartphone camera can’t take on? We’re starting to wonder. One for inspiration! Spotted by: Raymond Neo
