Event photos from multiple photographers automatically merged into one album

Flock is an app that takes all the photos snapped by different attendees at a social event and combines them into one album.

Put any three friends together for some socializing, and there’s a good chance you’ll end up with three separate groups of photos to commemorate the occasion – one on each person’s phone. The Flock app is now aiming to make it easier than ever to share these photos and put them into one consolidated album. Created by California-based Bump Technologies, Flock “finds the photos you take together with friends and family and magically brings all the photos from each person’s phone together into a single shared album,” in the company’s own words. Users of the free app for iPhone simply take photos as they usually would using their phone’s camera app, making sure to enable geotagging. Flock then uses Facebook to work out which friends are in the photos and filter out strangers as it creates a shared album, drawing together all the photos taken by friends at the event. Not only does Flock send users a notification if they have photos to share or view, but it also works backwards in time to create albums from before the app was installed. For Flock to work, friends must be using the app as well. Users, however, have complete control over which photos are shared, Bump says. The video below explains the premise in more detail:

Reminiscent of the Color app, which helps users to instantly share live video and pictures to a selected audience, Flock ensures that content is delivered to the right people with minimum effort. Although currently available only for iPhone, an Android version of the app is coming soon, its maker says.
