Dronebox provides an autonomous charging and deployment point for drones, enabling greater overall independence.
While drones continue to demonstrate their potential in a wide variety of situations, there are still issues surrounding the logistics of their deployment. To be as efficient as possible the drones of the future require greater autonomy, which requires a supporting infrastructure.
This is where Dronebox comes in. Dronebox – developed by H3 Dynamics – is a nesting platform designed to provide 24/7 autonomous capability to drones. It offers an automatic recharging and storage station that can be left on site for the UAV to land at after it has finished its job. The drone can be recharged wirelessly with solar panels on the Dronebox, and the box can download data collected by the drone.
The Dronebox then relays data from the drone to the cloud, as well as the ability to link with other Droneboxes and drones, in what H3 Dynamics calls ‘The Internet of Drones’.
The developers believe the automated, and independent, drone could be used for rapid deployment by police, coastal or emergency services, for monitoring borders and security systems, or for conventional package deliveries.
We have already seen drones capable of learning mountain paths, and giant drones for transporting injured soldiers or civilians from dangerous areas, but how else could ‘The Internet of Drones’ change the way humans collect and monitor data?
