Vending machines have become commonplace as a means of dispensing everything from Buying milk in India typically requires either standing in a morning line at the local dairy co-op or paying for delivery, as an Iconoculture report points out. Those living in the relatively prosperous and educated city of Pune in India’s western state of Maharashtra, however, now have an alternative. Early this week Katraj Dairy was slated to install its first chilled “ATM” to dispense milk products 24 hours a day at prices slightly lower than the general market rate. If the first device proves to be a success, the company reportedly has plans for 10 more in the region. Technology is at it’s simplest and most effective when delivering a helping of convenience to time-pressed consumers who need it most. This initiative looks to offer a win-win for everyone involved.
