Everyone has their own individual fashion sense, and enabling consumers to customize their own clothes has long been a major trend for the industry. But while projects such as YrStore have encouraged consumers to print their own designs in store before taking home their creations, a new service called Bamin has made its bags from modular parts that can be interchanged to create personalized looks even after customers have purchased them.

Bamin — which stands for ‘Build And Make It Now’ — provides a number of options that customers can choose from. It’s bags are available in four styles — duffle, briefcase, carryall or overnight — and various materials from leather, mesh, felt and leopard print. Each bag is made from individual sections that can be zipped together to form the whole thing. Before they purchase, customers can select the material and color of each module, mixing and matching styles to create a bag unique to them. After they’ve ordered and received their creation, however, they can purchase extra modules and swap sections out for new ones to constantly update the look of their bag at any time.

Due to the customizable nature of Bamin bags, prices depend on the materials and colors chosen by the consumer, although a typical design costs around USD 500. Could other fashion items be broken down into modules to allow wearers to regularly combine and remix them?
