It was only a few short months ago that we covered Harimaya Honten’s Free Café Harimaya Station, and now we have yet another all-free, Japanese initiative to report on: Only Free Paper, a Tokyo shop that serves up nothing but free newspapers and magazines.
Publications covering food, travel, fashion, music and art are all on display at Only Free Paper, which says it gathers its products throughout Japan. Almost 400 free publications are on hand at Only Free Paper as part of its mission to “get people passionate about paper-and-ink publications, and to gather as many magazines as possible in one place,” according to a report in Japanese Metropolis magazine. Currently the shop derives no income from its endeavors, but it reportedly aims ultimately to rent out its Tokyo venue as a gallery or event space.
