Hero Button provides smartphone owners with notifications about any data they wish.
IFTTT has been enabling users to create their own web ‘recipes’ for a while, connecting online services in smart ways. Now Hero Button provides smartphone owners with notifications about any data they wish. Just as with IFTTT, where users create a rule based on a digital action – if a particular person uploads a new instagram, for example, the platform can automatically download it to another’s Dropbox – the Hero Button allows the creation of push notifications which depend on a change in data online. Users can set up an alert for when a particular tweeter updates their feed, or if anyone on Twitter writes about a certain topic. Notifications about the changing prices of items or services online can be created, while investors could learn instantly when the stocks for a company pass a certain threshold. The app is currently free to download on the App Store and will be released on Google Play soon. Hero Button is a smart idea that leverages information online and keeps people better informed about the things they are interested in. How else can the endless mass of digital data be better managed and personalized?
