Portable writing instrument is a distraction-free tool

A new writing tool lets users write without distractions to help increase productivity.

Astrohaus, founded by award-winning product designer and mechanical engineer Adam Leeb, has released its latest writing tool – the Freewrite Traveler. The new tool has a distraction-free design and an ultra-portable form. There are no apps, notifications, or anything else that may cause a writer to lose focus. The tool aims to enable users to maximise their productivity and writing flow, and reduce writer’s block.

The Freewrite Traveler features a tactile keyboard and a small, folding design. Weighing less than two pounds, the tool is easy and convenient to transport anywhere. Moreover, the Freewrite Traveler creates a back up of anything that users write. The tool saves every typed word to Dropbox, Evernote or Google Drive, to make sure no document is lost. Another feature is a document launcher that allows users to bookmark documents to return to later for reference. In addition, hotkey enabled arrow keys create a shortcut for users to make amends to their work. There is also no advanced editing functionality such as the option to copy and paste text. Removing editing functions helps promote the focus on writing.

Launched on October 2 2018 on crowdfunding website Indiegogo, the Freewrite Traveler reached its goal in 28 minutes. We have previously featured other writing innovations here at Springwise, including a waterproof notepad and pencil. It lets users take notes in the shower making sure that no idea is forgotten. Another example is a computer game that improves players’ creative writing skills. The game lets players travel to distant planets and write about their findings.
