Mobileye 5-series is a smart camera system that can be used in any car to help drivers learn from and avoid reckless mistakes.
We have covered a number of smart in-car devices recently that use dashboard cameras and monitoring to help drivers avoid collision on the road. There is the computer-assisted driving system and an inbuilt monitoring software for teen drivers. Mobileye 5-series is another smart camera system that can be used in any car and help drivers learn from and avoid reckless mistakes.
Mobileye’s intelligent camera monitors external factors as well as the driver’s own behavior. To begin, users attach it to their dashboard and connect it to their smartphone via Bluetooth. The camera then detects any problematic driving — such as tailgating, veering out of the lane or potential collisions, and provides audio-visual warning through the companion app. The camera can also recognize changes to the speed limit, detect lane markings and traffic signs, and adjust accordingly.
There is also a larger version for commercial vehicles called Mobileye Shield plus, which has been shown to reduce overall collisions by 39 percent. What other features could be integrated into such systems to make this life-saving technology more widely adopted?
