Startups take turns telling their stories in New York City store

A Startup Store is a retail space in New York City that helps startups gain exposure by giving them a place to tell their stories and display their wares.

Hard on the heels of our story about the LaunchNow game comes word of yet another initiative designed to help startups build and grow. The venture this time is A Startup Store — a retail space in New York City that helps startups gain exposure by giving them a place to tell their stories and display their wares. Five New York-based startups kicked off A Startup Store leading up to the holiday season with merchandise-driven installations that introduced them to consumers while giving shoppers a chance to take care of some holiday shopping. Following that initial six-week shopping exhibition, the project plans to completely reinvent itself every four to six weeks with a completely different group of participating startups. “The environment, merchandise, events and story behind everything for sale will be different,” the project explains. On 2 February, A Startup Store will come out of beta and announce its permanent store name while also launching its next exhibition, which will be on the theme of love, it says. The video below offers a glimpse at A Startup Store’s first exhibition:
We’ve seen several retail efforts featuring the wares of a rotating array of merchants and brands, but applying the concept exclusively to startups makes even more sense. A model to emulate in your part of the world? Spotted by: Cecilia Biemann
