Now iRounds aims to provide a comprehensive package for GPs and medical staff to enable them to keep track of patients, manage their schedules and communicate with other professionals. Designed for use among the administrative staff of GPs, those registering for iRounds can log into the service through the website and also download a linked mobile app. Physicians can then enter information about their practice, as well as a database of patient details and scheduled appointments. Using the mobile app, doctors on call can then access the information they need while on the move. The MD to MD function of the app acts as a secure instant messaging service for contact with fellow doctors and uses encrypted servers to ensure patient confidentiality. When used across a health centre or hospital, all staff can have access to the patient data they need – from important health issues to the location of their appointment. The platform is currently available for up to two users at no cost, although for USD 9.99 per user each month up to three providers can access the service, with no advertisements.
