A new partnership offers customers a fuel delivery service so they never have to stop at a petrol station.
Most of the automotive innovations we cover here at Springwise are concerned with improving vehicle sustainability, or making sustainability more convenient for drivers. Two such examples are this this solar powered car that uses moss as a dashboard air filter and this Swedish innovation that has set up an electricity sharing economy between homeowners and electric car drivers. Not so for Bentley’s new collaboration: a personal petrol delivery system for participating Bentley drivers.
In October, gas delivery company Filld partnered with Bentley Motors to create an automated petrol delivery service and accompanying app. When drivers go below a quarter of a tank, the car automatically sends a signal to a Filld driver who can refill the tank. The accompanying app notifies the driver of the car’s location, unlocks the fuel tank and also allows the Bentley owner to book a desired timeslot. Bentley’s Director of Product and Marketing, Christophe Georges, said: “We are continuously investigating ways in which to offer our customers tailored, convenient, smart services that afford them the greatest luxury of all: more time. Our Connected Car strategy will continue to expand and innovate in order to further enhance the Bentley lifestyle.”
The service is currently only available to customers in California. Will we see more luxury automotive innovations of this nature that diverge from sustainability? Or is this one of a kind?
