Bike can be adjusted to the perfect fit and style

The Brooklyness Universal Bike lets owners tweak the frame to their body size and shape, as well as whatever riding style they want.

In the past, we’ve written about Spain’s Orbea Grow, a kids’ bike with an adjustable frame that caters to growth spurts. However, one reason adults avoid riding a bike is because frame size options for grownups are fairly limited and finding one with the perfect comfort level is a difficult task. Aiming to change this, the Brooklyness Universal Bike lets owners tweak the frame to their body size and shape, as well as whatever riding style they want.

Most store-bought bikes are available at a reasonable cost, but use a one-size-fits-all model that doesn’t cater to riders’ unique body shapes. But if consumers want a custom frame, they’ll end up paying thousands of dollars — a big disincentive for the casual rider. The Universal Bike is made of lightweight carbon fiber and uses adjustable joints that alter the length, the seat angle, the front fork angle and the handlebar position. In order to help riders work out the best settings for them, the Brooklyness app enables them to simply input their body measurements and details the adjustments that need to be made. Users can also specify if they want a specific riding experience, turning their two wheels into a fixie, a track bike or a commuter bike.

Brooklyness recently ended a Kickstarter campaign, where the Universal frame and fork was priced at USD 695. Although is didn’t reach it’s target, could there be a market for this kind of customizable transport?
