Modular boat is for both work and pleasure

Italy's Ethos E30 can be reconfigured for different purposes, from tour boat, to fishing trawler, to family cruiser.

Vehicles are usually designed to serve a particular purpose, with different functions calling for completely new designs. While in the past we’ve seen the hybrid Sealander caravan work on both land and water, the Ethos E30 modular boat can be reconfigured for different purposes, from tour boat, to fishing trawler, to family cruiser.

The 31-foot boat can be bought for a hefty USD 175,000 in its initial bare bones form, which is good for use as a pickup or for transporting large equipment. However, the vessel can then be equipped with multiple modular pieces easily installed by owners. In Open mode, the ship can be used as a vehicle for short trips in good weather, but panels can be added to the cabin frame to make it a more sturdy proposition for longer journeys. The deck has removable flooring that reveals fittings for things such as seats — to turn the vessel into a tour boat — as well as various electric sockets to plug in any number of appliances or technology. The video below offers more information about the boat:

The Ethos E30 has given owners a blank canvas and design their own ship, as well as enable them to change its functionality on demand. Could manufacturers of other types of vehicles take advantage of modularity to give their products more than one use?
