Navia is a portable wifi security solution, that also unblocks geo-restricted content worldwide.
With increasing numbers of connected devices, internet security is an important domain. We recently saw decentralised cloud storage which spreads data across its network of users to mitigate the risk of failure, and this antivirus software protecting connected cars from hackers. Now Navia is a portable device that allows users to connect to the internet from wherever they are without the risk of cyber attack.
The system works for all smart-devices and is simple to setup via an accompanying app, accessible from any browser on any device. Once switched on, Navia cretes a wifi hotspot and users can connect up to 5 devices. The product also comes with a number of useful features such as unblocking geo-restricted content worldwide. Once connected to the Navia WiFi, users can virtually relocate to other countries and access restricted video content for example, or save money online through e-commerce sites that adjust their pricing according to location data and browsing history. Navia also comes with 128GB of flash encrypted storage and an embedded battery allowing users to recharge their smart devices on the go.
Created as a partnership between Irish company Digital Equipment Communication and the German ZenMate, the product is currently available on Indiegogo. As cyber attacks threaten our increasingly connected world, will this protection technology be automatically built into future devices?
