Smart mirror can recreate any light context

simplehuman’s sensor mirrors feature LED light strips that can recreate any light context, using selfies uploaded via a companion app.

We’ve seen a few examples of smart mirrors in retail stores, from ones that can measure bra sizes to another that shows heat maps of thermals. Now simplehuman have launched a smart mirror for homes, which is capable of recreating various light contexts.

The mirror series feature LED lights that recreate natural sunlight, offering the user a truer representation of how their makeup will look when they leave home. It can also mimic any light context — through a companion app, users can take a selfie at the gym, the office or a restaurant, connect with the mirror via Bluetooth or wifi, and the light will adjust to match the photo’s background lighting. The mirrors are USB rechargeable, lasting up to three weeks per charge, and feature an energy-saving sensing system that lights up only when users are in proximity.

The simplehuman wide-view sensor mirror is available now for USD 400. Could compact smart mirrors be built using similar tech?
